Organic Certification Program
We are specifically focused on developing our new line of eco-friendly knitwear and having all of our production processes operate in accordance to certified standards and an organic program. Our new knitwear factory specializes in manufacturing eco-friendly organic knitwear products.
Certified by the Control Union
Currently all of our organic yarn is purchased locally from a certified spinning mill. The certification is carried out by the Control Union Certification Program in the Netherlands (formerly known as Skal).
The organic yarn is produced from organic cotton grown locally in south India, where they only use the traditional methods to grow the cotton. We process this organic yarn in our knitting mill to produce the fabric from which we manufacturer our garments. The certification of the yarn confirms that the origin of organic raw materials and the yarn produced are from organic cotton. Both the farmer and spinning mill are audited by Control Union on an annual basis.
What is a “Control Union Certification”?
The Control Union Certification Program was created for sustainable textile production and offers both consumers and producers the clarity they need when considering organic products. It provides unambiguous, public standards for the entire production line, and independent, objective inspection and certification.
The result is a very environmentally friendly product. Control Union certified products may carry the EKO quality symbol. For the consumer, the EKO-quality symbol in the label of a textile product is a guarantee that a product has been inspected on its origin and according to a clearly defined standard of sustainability.
Why choose organic?
Not only is conventional cotton products harmful to the environment (the cotton farms alone uses upwards of 25% of the world's pesticides, not to mention bleaches and dyes and other toxins, in it cultivation and manufacture), it is also harmful to us as the chemicals used to process and dye them go on releasing possibly harmful fumes and gases for a long time, just like a brand-new carpet would.
And as our skin is porous, a lot of these toxins may find their way into our bodies, either through our respiratory or perspiration system.
So in light of this, we have decided to pursue more sustainable production processes, where the goal is to preserve and protect what we can of this fragile planet.
